Posted by : Sustainable / On : 06-Apr-2021

The cooler days of fall are here and with that comes Thanksgiving meal planning!

This week, we’re featuring fresh, organic cranberries from Patience Fruit & Co. Find them listed under Pfennings. Not sure whether you’ll have time to make cranberry sauce from scratch? No problem! This recipe takes very little time to make and is sure to impress your dinner guests. You can even add ingredients to customize it to your taste.

And, if you still don’t have time for this quick and easy recipe, just toss the bag of cranberries in the freezer and they’ll keep until you’ve got a few moments to spare.

Ingredients

12 oz fresh cranberries; 1 cup organic cane sugar or sweetener of your choice; 1 cup water

Directions

Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until dissolved. Add cranberries and continue to stir. Cook until they burst, about 10 minutes or so.

And that’s it! You’re done! The sauce will thicken upon cooling. You can customize this sauce by replacing some of the water with fresh apple cider and adding some ground cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. If you want a more tropical option, add the grated zest of an organic orange and replace some of the water with orange juice. Or, if you’re feeling really festive, finish the sauce off with a splash or two of spiced rum or Grand Marnier.
